The DNA sequence of the WhiteLaptop
Monday, November 19th, 2007The WhiteLaptop went from Dean Kamen, to Dr. Craig Venter! Turns out, the WhiteLaptop wasn’t in any hurry to leave. Was the WhiteLaptop helping to map out DNA, or just enjoying some time on the West Coast with new friends?
Dr. Craig Venter is the founder of the J. Craig Venter Institute in Rockville, Maryland, He is the first person to publish his complete diploid DNA sequence, unveiling the six billion-letter genome sequence of a single individual for the first time in September of this year. He is also seeking to patent the first life-form created by man, possibly to be named the Mycoplasma Laboratorium. Interesting stuff!
Plans for the WhiteLaptop have changed slightly. As it is still out, making friends with the Stars, we have delayed the auction. More signatures can only be a good thing, right? We are committed to the campaign and can’t wait to see our little WhiteLaptop, all grown up and on the Auctioning block!
Just in time for Christmas, the Give One, Get One campaign. Donate $399 to the Laptop campaign and have one laptop go to a child in a developing country, a tax receipt for $200 and a laptop for that special little person in your life! We won’t tell anyone if you play with the laptop too.
